    Thanks to the sponsorship of Institute of Navigation (ION) Satellite Division, the ION

    North Star Section is proud to announce the First Annual Autonomous Snowplow Competition.


    The purpose of this competition is to challenge university and college students, as well as
    the general public, to design, build, and operate a fully autonomous snowplow to

    remove snow from a designated path. The objectives of this competition include

    encouraging students and individuals to utilize the state of the art in navigation and control
    technologies to rapidly, accurately, and safely clear a path of snow.



    2011 Competition Announced

    The First Annual Autonomous Snowplow Competition will be held in January 2011

    at the Saint Paul Winter Carnival.


    The ION and the ION North Star Section encourages teams to apply, enter, and compete in

    this new competition. To enter the Autonomous Snowplow Competition, please complete and

    submit the contest Application Forms.


    2011 APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENSION
    In order to accommodate some competitors with end of school year activities, the deadline

    for applications has been extended to 10 September 2010.
    However, it is highly recommended that teams apply as early as possible, and begin their

    design and development long before this deadline.

    2010 Promotional Display

    We had a great display and promotion at the Saint Paul Winter Carnival on January 23-24, 2010,
    where we had displays of past competitions, autonomous vehicles, and competition materials.
